More Vehicles on the Road
Delivery on our own vehicles has always been part of how Parkside Steel works. Our drivers know the loads, know the customers, and know how to get steel bar off a flatbed and into a workshop without drama. The limiting factor has simply been the number of vehicles — and that is what changed this morning, with new Renault vehicles joining the fleet.
More capacity means more routes, more frequency, and more postcodes where a Parkside delivery is a scheduled certainty rather than a special arrangement.
A Dedicated North West Run
The headline change is a dedicated weekly delivery route covering Stoke, Manchester, Leeds and surrounding areas. If your business is in or around those cities, you can now plan around a regular Parkside vehicle in your area — same as our East Midlands customers have done for years.
Why does own-fleet matter? Steel bar is an awkward load — long, heavy, and easily damaged by careless handling. Carrier networks do a good job for standard freight, but bar in wooden cradles and wrapped bundles travels best on a flatbed driven by someone who handles steel every day. Our smaller vehicles also reach sites that larger lorries cannot, which matters for urgent single-piece deliveries.
What It Means for North West Engineering Businesses
Distance has never been the real barrier — from our base at Junction 27 of the M1, Manchester and Leeds are comfortably within range. The barrier was scheduling: without a regular route, every North West delivery was a one-off. A dedicated weekly run removes that. It means:
- Plannable deliveries — order against a known weekly schedule rather than an ad-hoc arrangement.
- No volume threshold — the one-piece minimum applies on the route, same as everywhere else.
- Full range access — every grade and profile we stock, cut to length, delivered on our own vehicle.
