PS QA 013 — Ductile Cast Iron Bar

EN-GJS-500C

EN-GJS-500-7 / EN-JS1050
Ductile / SG / Nodular Iron Bar

Ferritic-pearlitic spheroidal-graphite (ductile / SG) cast iron bar, continuously cast for a dense, close-grained section. EN-GJS-500C is the general-purpose ductile grade, balancing higher tensile and proof strength than EN-GJS-400 with useful elongation. The default choice for loaded, machined ductile-iron components.

Technical Notes

Remarks & Guidance.

EN-GJS-500C is the most widely specified ductile grade, with a mixed ferritic-pearlitic matrix giving a good balance of strength, ductility and machinability. Suitable for the majority of loaded machined ductile-iron parts. Weldable with nickel electrodes and pre-heat where essential. Properties vary with section size and as-cast matrix.
